Job Description

Position Overview:

We are seeking a dedicated Peer Counselor cum Data Operator who will provide counseling and support to clients while maintaining accurate records of all client interactions and data. This individual will work closely with the Program Manager, assisting with training, strategizing, and client engagement, with a focus on HIV prevention and treatment. The successful candidate will have a deep understanding of the community they serve and play a key role in developing strategies to attract clients to utilize TAAL Healthcare’s comprehensive HIV services.

    Key Responsibilities:

    Peer Counseling Responsibilities:

    1. Provide one-on-one counseling and support to clients, focusing on HIV prevention, treatment, and general health advice.
    2. Build trust with clients by offering empathy and understanding, encouraging them to seek healthcare services.
    3. Guide clients through their healthcare options at TAAL Healthcare, ensuring they understand the facilities available for HIV prevention and treatment.
    4. Conduct follow-up calls with clients to provide ongoing support and monitor their progress in treatment or prevention programs.
    5. Address any questions or concerns from clients regarding HIV, its treatment, and prevention services.

    Data Operator Responsibilities:

    1. Accurately record all client interactions, including counseling sessions and follow-up calls, into the system.
    2. Maintain confidential client records and ensure that all data is entered in compliance with organizational policies and data protection regulations.
    3. Generate reports on counseling activities, client engagement, and treatment progress to support program monitoring and evaluation.
    4. Conduct regular data audits to ensure the accuracy of client information and counseling records.
    5. Support the Program Manager in preparing reports for stakeholders and in evaluating the impact of counseling services.

    Support to Program Manager:

    1. Assist the Program Manager in organizing training sessions for staff and clients, ensuring smooth logistics and record-keeping.
    2. Help with the planning and execution of outreach activities aimed at increasing client enrollment in TAAL Healthcare’s services.
    3. Provide input on new strategies to improve client retention and engagement in HIV prevention and treatment programs.
    4. Collaborate with the Program Manager to analyze data and identify trends that can inform program improvements and new initiatives.

    Strategy and Client Engagement:

    1. Work on developing new strategies and approaches to attract clients to TAAL Healthcare’s services for HIV prevention and treatment.
    2. Proactively engage with clients to turn their interest toward utilizing the full range of services offered by TAAL Healthcare.
    3. Partner with community organizations and attend outreach events to increase awareness of TAAL Healthcare’s offerings.
    4. Assist in the development of marketing and educational materials that highlight TAAL Healthcare’s comprehensive HIV services.

    Communication and Coordination:

    1. Liaise with other healthcare professionals and team members to ensure that clients receive comprehensive care.
    2. Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to support the smooth delivery of HIV prevention and treatment services.
    3. Ensure clear communication with clients regarding their treatment options, scheduling of follow-up appointments, and any required referrals.

    Qualifications & Skills:

    1. Education: High school diploma or equivalent required. Training in HIV counseling or peer education is preferred.
    2. Experience: 1-2 years of experience in a peer counseling or community outreach role, preferably related to HIV prevention and care.
    3. Technical Skills:
      1. Proficiency in data entry and record-keeping, with experience using MS Office and data management systems.
      2. Familiarity with client management software is a plus.
    1. Counseling Skills: Strong ability to build rapport with clients, provide emotional support, and offer practical advice regarding health and wellness.
    2. Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills for interacting with clients, colleagues, and external stakeholders.
    3. Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to think creatively and develop strategies to increase client engagement and retention.
    4. Organizational Skills: Strong attention to detail, multitasking abilities, and the capacity to maintain organized records of daily activities.

    Working Environment:

    1. Full-time position with standard working hours.
    2. Primarily office-based with occasional travel for outreach and community engagement activities.
