Job Description
Taal Healthcare is seeking a dedicated and compassionate part-time Medical Officer to support clinical care and treatment services for People Living with HIV (PLHIV). The ideal candidate will have sound knowledge and experience in HIV/AIDS management, especially Antiretroviral Therapy (ART), and will play a key role in ensuring quality healthcare services.
Key Responsibilities:
- Clinical Services:
- Provide Outpatient medical care to PLHIV (People Living with HIV) by NACO guidelines.
- Monitor patients on ART and ensure timely referrals, investigations, and clinical follow-ups.
- Identify, manage, and refer co-morbidities such as NCDs(Non-Communicable Diseases), opportunistic infections, Hepatitis, and mental health concerns.
- Prescribe medication based on standard treatment protocols.
- ART & HIV Care Knowledge:
- Sound knowledge of HIV/AIDS, ART regimens, drug resistance, and national HIV program guidelines.
- Monitor adherence to ART and support in addressing treatment interruptions or LFU (Lost to Follow-Up) cases.
- Coordinate with ART Centers, ICTC, and other stakeholders for client care and support.
- Documentation & Reporting:
- Maintain accurate and timely patient records in both physical and digital formats.
- Prepare and submit required reports related to clinical services and camp-based outreach.
- Ensure data confidentiality and adherence to programmatic documentation standards.
- Coordination & Camps:
- Participate and lead medical services in health camps organized in the community or partner settings.
- Coordinate with outreach teams for planning and executing community-based screening for HIV, NCDs, and other co-infections.
- Client-Centered Care:
- Provide respectful and non-discriminatory care to all patients, especially marginalized groups.
- Offer counseling and motivation to PLHIV for adherence, mental health, and disclosure-related challenges.
- Team Collaboration:
- Work closely with outreach workers, counselors, and program managers for holistic client care.
- Attend periodic staff review meetings, capacity building sessions, and refresher trainings.
- Administrative Skills:
- Maintain inventory of medical supplies and equipment in the clinic.
- Assist the program team in implementing quality assurance protocols.
- Technology & Software Use:
- Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) for report writing, data entry, and communication.
- Familiarity with online health data entry systems and Kobo/Google Forms is a plus.
Eligibility Criteria:
- Education: MBBS degree from a recognized university with valid registration.
- Experience: Minimum 1 year of experience in clinical care; preference given to candidates with HIV/ART program experience.
- Skills: Excellent communication, empathy, coordination, and documentation skills.
Preferred Attributes:
- Ability to work in a community-based setting with sensitivity.
- Basic knowledge of public health programs and coordination with government systems.
- Willingness to travel for field visits or camps occasionally.
